This large and spontaneously drawn sheet shows several larger and smaller vessels on a river near a small village, the Medieval church towering above the houses. Although the handling appears idiosyncratic and characteristic, the attribution of this drawing has so far remained elusive. The houses and trees at the right are particularly fluently rendered, while the boats are drawn with more precision. Although the drawing appears to be made in the Northern Netherlands around 1625-1650, the trees especially display the influence of Flemish draughtsmen such as Joos de Momper II (1564–1634) and Lodewijk Toeput (1550–1605).
